What is Wakesurfing

Unlike traditional watersports where a rider is pulled behind a boat with a rope, wakesurfing offers a unique experience that allows the rider to “surf” behind the boat without the use of a rope. 

Wakesurfers utilize a small “surfboard” that allows them to perform impressive tricks, maneuvers, and to simply just ride the wave. There are two main types of wakesurf boards, skim-style boards and surf style boards, each designed for different riding preferences and styles. 

Skim style boards are typically smaller and have a flatter rocker (the curve from nose to tail). This allows for quicker acceleration and more maneuverability on the water. These boards are great for riders who enjoy 360º spins, “shuvs” (a maneuver where the rider jumps and spins the board 180º while mid-air), and other tricks on the wave. Skim style boards are often preferred by more experienced riders looking to challenge themselves with technical moves. 

On the other hand, surf style boards are typically larger and have a more pronounced rocker. This design helps generate more push and stability, making them ideal for riders who want a more traditional surf-like feel. Surf style boards are perfect for those who enjoy carving smooth lines and riding the wave in a more relaxed manner. They are often a popular choice for beginners or those who simply want to enjoy a more laid-back ride.
